What this site is
Flood First Aid helps people work out what kind of water problem they have and which type of professional handles it, then connects them with an independent provider where one is verified for their area. The diagnostic tool is free, needs no account, and gives you the same answer whether or not you go on to contact anyone.
What this site is not
We are not a restoration contractor, a plumber, a waterproofing company or a remediation firm. We do not perform any of the work described on this site. We do not employ technicians, we do not own equipment, and we do not have offices or crews in the towns we write about. Any company you reach through this site is an independent business that is solely responsible for its own work, licensing, insurance and conduct.
How we are paid
We may be paid by service providers for calls or for contact requests, either directly or through an advertising network. That is our business model and we state it plainly rather than burying it. It does not change the safety guidance on this site, and it does not change the output of the diagnostic tool, which is driven by a published decision table you can read about in our editorial policy.
What we will not do
We do not invent providers, reviews, ratings, certifications, prices, response times or coverage. Where we have not verified that a provider covers a ZIP code for a service, the page says so rather than sending you to someone we cannot vouch for. Where we publish a claim that needs support, we cite a source. Where we do not have data, we say we do not have data.
